Sciatica refers to a set of symptoms that follow the path of the sciatic nerve, the
largest and longest one in the body. It begins in the
lower spine and travels through the
hips, buttocks, and down each leg.
When this nerve becomes compressed—often by a
herniated disc, spinal stenosis, or bone spurs—it can trigger a sharp, radiating sensation known as
sciatic nerve pain.
In addition to that burning sensation, many patients experience numbness, muscle weakness, or a tingling sensation that extends down the affected leg.
These symptoms can vary in intensity and duration, often making daily movement unpredictable and more difficult to manage without support.
