Choosing the RIGHT doctor and clinic when seeking Regenerative Medicine Treatments
In today’s tumultuous climate of Regenerative Medicines for medical conditions, it’s easy to make the wrong choice in which clinic and provider you use for treatments. At Core Medical Center we know the difference between someone “claiming” they can order and administer Regenerative Medicine & PRP treatments and someone truly “certified and capable”. We want to share some tips in choosing a provider that will exponentially improve your treatment outcomes.
- Watch out for Doctors whose education and scope of practice does not allow them to prescribe, administer or perform a Regenerative Medicine procedure. People who are Doctor of Physical Therapy or Doctors of Chiropractic cannot perform any medical procedure such as injections or prescribe any medications. Taking advice from a Doctor who does not have proper training in regenerative medicine and does not have a legal scope of practice is not a wise decision when the costs are so high for Regenerative Medicine procedures. It would be like going to a Podiatrist and asking him for help with a cavity. However, Chiropractor and PTs can be of great benefit in the physical rehabilitation that is often needed with these procedures. Just make sure they have experience rehabbing Regenerative Medicine/regenerative specific cases. Wouldn’t it be nice to find someone that had the physical rehabilitation background and the advanced training with the ability to prescribe, administer and inject Regenerative Medicines?
- Watch out for Medical Practitioners who do not offer any follow up care or physical rehabilitation services in house or through a reputable physical rehabilitation group with regenerative medicine therapy training. Many medical doctors are selling Regenerative Medicines, but they are only do part of what needs to be done. Regenerative Medicines are permanent tissue, but they are still susceptible to injury. So, if what caused your injury is still present then you are going to damage your new tissue that the Regenerative Medicines grew. For example, if you have a mis-positioning of the knee due to over tightened lower extremity muscles and you do not correct, your knee condition will get worse and those cells may never have the opportunity to get stable growth in that area. See the pick below most common presentation in a knee injury if you do not off-load that knee and rehab it those new cells do not stand a chance.
- Does the clinic provide bracing and support with the bracing? Braces can be a vital part of the regenerative treatment and a make or break a successful treatment outcome, just like including rehabilitation. A brace will do you no good if you do not have someone that can adjust it and check it routinely, so you know it is being worn correctly. If some cases, we have seen patients who come in with them on wrong and it’s causing the knee even more damage.
Be sure you do your due diligence in seeking out an ideal clinic that will be able to offer physical rehabilitation, bracing and a Regenerative Medicine provider who can sit you down explain and objectively show you why Regenerative Medicines or regenerative medicine is a good fit. And don’t forget, the provider with advanced post-graduate training in injection techniques and regenerative medicine applications with hit the mark for the most successful treatment outcome.
